International influence
We have international influence as Australia’s representative at the world’s three largest and most important standards and design organisations:
These organisations set the policy and develop international Standards that world markets and international conventions are based on.
They make trade between countries easier and fairer and are a safeguard for users and consumers, resulting in many aspects of our lives being made simpler.
International Standards ensure freight containers will fit on container ships, that credit cards work globally, and that laptops can wirelessly access the internet around the world.
In our region
Standards Australia works closely with our neighbours to ensure regional concerns are heard in the international arena. We assist developing nations establish their own strong and independent Standards development body.
We are involved in regional, Pacific and South East Asia workshops and training and in joint regional initiatives with PASC and with Standards New Zealand.
