In October 2014, Standards Australia (SA) released a public statement announcing that SA Technical Committee LG-002, Lighting for Roads and Public Spaces, was currently revising AS/NZS 1158.6 Lighting for Roads and Public Spaces, Part 6: Luminaires. The proposed revision will supersede the 2010 edition of AS/NZS 1158.6:2010.
It was proposed for the safety requirements and product performance requirements for road lighting luminaires to be split into two documents AS/NZS 60598-2-3 and SA/SNZ TS 1158.6.
In response to public comments and after consulting with various stakeholders, the Technical Committee EL-041 submitted a proposal to Standards Australia for a modified adoption of IEC 60598-2-3 instead of a direct text adoption (as above) to take into account specific local environmental conditions. This was approved by Standards Australia management on the condition that the new document be resubmitted for public comment.
