Standards Australia Board Member Peter Cockbain appointed Member (AM) of the Order of Australia

Standards Australia congratulates Mr Peter Cockbain on being appointed a Member of the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Queen’s Birthday 2015 honours list. Mr Cockbain has been honoured for significant service to electrical engineering, particularly in the mining and energy sectors, and to professional organisations.
Mr Cockbain has served on the board of Standards Australia since 2009, providing invaluable advice on the Remuneration & Nominations board committee. He has also contributed to standards development in Australia with 40 years of service on Standards Australia’s technical committees such as EL-023, Electrical Equipment in Mines and Quarries, and EL-014, Equipment for Explosive Atmospheres.
He is currently the founder and technical director of AmpControl, an Australian electrical engineering company.
Dr Bronwyn Evans, Chief Executive Officer of Standards Australia, says Mr Cockbain is a deserving recipient of the honours. 
“Peter’s insights and considerable experience have helped Standards Australia to fulfil our strategic objectives of developing internationally-aligned standards for the net benefit for Australia. We are honoured to have him on our Board and we warmly congratulate him on his well-deserved award,” said Dr Evans.  
“His illustrious career has been dedicated to the betterment of the electrical engineering profession and in so doing, has benefited the entire Australian community and industry.”
