‍International Workshop Agreement on Sustainable Critical Minerals Supply Chains proposed by Standards Australia

Standards Australia hosted the first of three International Workshop Agreements 45 (IWA) in Tokyo on February 15 & 16, 2024, with fifty-nine participants in attendance.

The purpose of this ISO International Workshop Agreement (IWA) on Sustainable Critical Minerals Supply Chains is to detail environmental, social, and governance principles in existing sustainability frameworks, guides, and standards which have gained acceptance across various regions and jurisdictions. Thus, identifying the similarities and differences between these frameworks.

Using a multi-stakeholder engagement process to discuss and analyse these frameworks, guides, and standards, recommendations will be developed to support industry to uphold sustainability principles and inform future standards processes.

The second workshop to develop the International Workshop Agreement on sustainable critical minerals supply chains will be held in hybrid format from 16-17 April 2024. For further details, including the schedule and registration information, please refer to the following link.

Product designation: AS 19426.7:2024

Abstract: AS 19426.7:2024 identically adopts and modifies ISO 19426 7:2021, which specifies the design loads and design procedures for the design of rope guides and rubbing ropes used for guiding conveyances and preventing collisions in vertical mine shafts for permanent operations

History: Originated in Australia as AS 3785.6-1992. Jointly revised and designated as AS/NZS 3785.6:2015. Revised in part and redesignated as AS 19426.7:2024.

Underground mining - Shaft equipment, Part 4: Conveyances for vertical shafts

Product designation: AS 3785.4:2024

Abstract: AS 3785.4:2024 specifies requirements for conveyances used in vertical-shaft mine-winding installations, including fixtures on the conveyance, but not suspension pins for connecting head rope, tail rope attachments or gripper assemblies.

History: Originated as AS 3785.4-1992. Jointly revised and designated as AS/NZS 3785.4:2002. Revised and redesignated as 3785.4:2024.
