Standards Australia: Accreditation and coordination roles to be integrated: Friday 20 November 2009

Standards Australia's CEO, Mr John Tucker, today outlined arrangements to integrate the organisation's accreditation and coordination functions into Standards Australia’s core operations team. The arrangements will see the secretariat function of the Accreditation Board for Standards Development Organisations (ABSDO) transferred to Standards Australia's Relationship Management team. The National Standards Office (NSO) will also join with various teams within the operations unit.

A new Australian Standard to test the stability of household furniture will help to prevent children's injuries and fatalities in the home. Standards Australia has today published a new Australian Standard for evaluating the stability of freestanding domestic furniture such as bookcases, chests of drawers and wardrobes which may have a tendency to topple when misused.
