Prams and strollers are part of everyday life for families, but their design plays a critical role in protecting children from serious harm. AS 2088:2000, Prams and strollers – Safety requirements sets out the safety requirements for these products, helping to reduce the risk of injury and support safer choices for parents and carers.
What is AS 2088:2000?
AS 2088:2020 outlines the materials, construction, performance, labelling, and testing requirements for prams, strollers, and their accessories. It applies to products designed to transport children in seated, semi-reclined, or fully reclined positions, including convertible and multi-seat designs.
This standard forms the basis of the mandatory product safety standard for prams and strollers in Australia. Under the Australian Consumer Law, it is an offence to supply products that do not comply with this standard.
