AANZFTA Regional Workshop on Digital Transformation in Standards Development
The ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA) is a comprehensive free trade agreement between Australia, New Zealand, and the ten member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). It covers trade in goods, services, investment, and economic cooperation, aiming to reduce barriers and strengthen regional economic ties.

Key deliverables included a regional workshop held in Sydney from 21 to 23 October 2025, focused on:
- Exchanging best practices, lessons learned, and case studies.
- Exploring tools and frameworks to digitise standards development and implementation.
- Enhancing contributor experience and inclusivity, including accessibility.
- Strengthening delivery and dissemination of standards through digital platforms.
- Improving long-term maintenance of standards through catalogue management, data insights, and stakeholder feedback.
Project Outcomes
Taking part in the workshop allowed participants to:
- Build awareness and understanding of digital transformation in standards development among AANZFTA National Standards Bodies.
- Provide strategies and tools that participants can take back to their organisations.
- Strengthen regional network for ongoing collaboration on digital standards work.
- Support capacity building across countries at different stages of digital maturity.
