Australian Awards Fellowship Program - Pacific Climate Standards Fellowship
Many of our near neighbours (Kiribati, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Timor-Leste) have a limited understanding of the importance of standards and limited capabilities to adopt, distribute and implement standards. This affects each country's economic competitiveness, the resilience of their natural and built environment, the safety of their goods and services and the quality of life of their citizens.
Project Purpose
Project Scope
This fellowship sought to raise awareness for participants of the importance of standards to responding to climate challenge and to transitioning to renewables through mentoring, training and interactive discussions.
The fellowship increased capabilities to undertake core standardisation functions and through mentoring from experts on relevant standards and how they can be implemented.
Project Outcomes
Taking part in the fellowship allowed Participants to:
- Gain industry-specific standards development skills relating to standardisation in climate and green energy disciplines.
- Have opportunities to engage with Australian industry experts and key organisations within the conformance ecosystem.
- Provide Fellows with the skills necessary to engage with stakeholders, including government, private and civil society within their economy, and encourage linkages between the partner organisations and the Australian system.
- Support the enhancement of national frameworks and facilitate the development of relationships between standards development organisations in the region.
Beyond the fellowship, Standards Australia actively promotes ongoing engagement between fellows to support regional perspectives on regional climate challenges.
