Standards Australia has a long history with stakeholders in the water and waste sector, as well as in the development of the standards for the plumbing industry. Safety, water efficiency, and sustainability are at the forefront of this sector’s standards development activities. The AS/NZS 3500, Plumbing and Drainage series of standards is an important part of the plumbing industry, and is often the primary technical pathway for satisfying the requirements of the Plumbing Code of Australia. Key projects in the sector include: AS/NZS 3500, Plumbing and Drainage series AS/NZS 6400, Water Efficient Products – Rating and Labelling (WELS). The changes to the lead content in plumbing products will be rolled out across the Australian portfolio, and will provide significant benefit to the Australian consumer.
