Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull today announced, as part of the ASEAN Australian Digital Trade Standards Initiative, Standards Australia will play a key role in enabling digital trade across our region.
The joint initiative, announced in conjunction with ten ASEAN countries, credits the role of Standards Australia as a driving force behind its success.
“The work of Standards Australia often happens in the background, but examples such as this initiative prove how far their benefits flow,” said Dr Bronwyn Evans, CEO of Standards Australia. “This initiative is also timely as it strikes at the heart of the next economic boom – digital trade.”
“The economic growth of ASEAN is exceeding global averages, and ensuring Australian SMEs are able to enter this expanding market will be guided heavily by International Standards.
“Removing barriers to trade and promoting economic integration are only two examples of the way in which Standards Australia will contribute to the alignment of Australia and our ASEAN neighbours.”
