
Karen Batt
Karen Batt is the Chief of Engagement, Standards and International Relations at Standards Australia, where she leads the organisation’s standards development, stakeholder engagement, and international strategy.
Her portfolio spans national and international partnerships, content development and publishing, and the alignment of standards with public policy priorities.
Since joining Standards Australia in 2001, Karen has held multiple senior leadership roles focused on international collaboration, project management, and trans-Tasman relations, including a secondment with Standards New Zealand.
Karen continues to play a key role in advancing Australia’s influence in international standards. She was elected to a second term on the ISO Technical Management Board (TMB) for the 2024 – 2026 term. She is also the current IEC Asia Pacific Co-operation Forum (APCF) Chair.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental) from University of New South Wales and completed a Masters in International Relations at Victoria University in Wellington in 2009.
