ISO/IEC JTC 1 Information technology
Standards Australia has a strong history of facilitating solutions that meet the needs of consumers and industry. It remains committed to enhancing the social, environmental and economic wellbeing of all Australians by providing an active forum for discussion, debate and consensus.
ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee (JTC 1) is a consensus based, voluntary international standards group focussing on information technology. Technical experts from over 100 countries participate in JTC 1 to develop, maintain, promote, and facilitate ICT standards that enhance global trade and meet business and user requirements. JTC 1 has developed many critical IT standards, including ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management Systems. In recent years, JTC 1 has explored standardisation opportunities in critical and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Digital Twin, Cloud Computing, Quantum Computing and the Metaverse, ensuring JTC 1 develops relevant and fit-for-purpose ICT standards over the next decade and beyond.
JTC 1 plenaries occur on a 6-month cycle and this will be the third time Australia hosts the JTC 1 plenary – it promises to be a golden opportunity to promote Darwin to a global audience.
