A message from our CEO

Rod Balding
Chief Executive Officer, Standards Australia

Standards Australia remains committed to shaping a safer, more sustainable, and competitive future through strong international collaboration.

In September, we participated in several key global engagements to further drive our collaboration, reduce barriers to trade, and enhance productivity.

I had the honour of attending the 89th IEC General Meeting in India alongside colleagues, where we exchanged insights with international counterparts on critical topics including inclusivity, the future of AI, and smart technologies. We thank the IEC and the Bureau of Indian Standards for hosting a valuable and collaborative event.

Regionally, we continue to strengthen our trans-Tasman partnership. A recent visit to New Zealand included productive discussions with the New Zealand Standards Approval Board, Standards New Zealand leadership, key regulators, and the Hon. Scott Simpson MP. This milestone builds on the newly signed Heads of Agreement, reinforcing our shared commitment to joint standards development.

Finally, I am proud to congratulate four Australian experts, Alex Baitch, James Sankar, Jean Cross, and Lucy Finlay, on receiving the prestigious IEC 1906 Award. Their leadership and innovation in international standards development exemplify the excellence and global impact of Australian expertise.

Together, we are helping shape technologies that are safer, more reliable, and future-focused.
