Standards BOOTcamp is a tailored, interactive workshop designed for organisations whose people engage with standards, use standards in their work, or need a better understanding of how the standards system operates.
Delivered by a Standards Australia Engagement and Facilitation expert, each BOOTcamp is designed around your organisation, your people and your sector.
Whether you are a Standards Australia member, a nominating organisation looking to build the capability of your members or employees, or an organisation that uses standards and wants to quickly upskill its people, BOOTcamp provides a practical introduction to the standards system and the opportunities to engage with it.

What will your BOOTcamp cover?
Every BOOTcamp provides participants with:
- A practical understanding of standards and their role in supporting safety, quality, innovation and market access across industries
- Insight into how standards are developed, reviewed and maintained, including how the standards development process works in practice
- An understanding of the standards ecosystem, including the different stakeholders involved and how organisations, industry and government contribute
- Future pathways for getting involved, including opportunities to participate in standards development and the professional and organisational benefits of doing so
- Content tailored to your organisation and sector, with the option to explore relevant standards, sector specific examples and case studies based on the standards your people encounter in their work
Tailored to your organisation
There is no one size fits all BOOTcamp.
Before delivery, we meet with you to understand your audience, objectives and existing relationship with standards. We then tailor the session to focus on the areas that will provide the greatest value to your people.
This makes BOOTcamp particularly valuable for organisations where people work with standards but may not understand the broader context, influence or extent of their impact.

BOOTcamp can be tailored for a wide range of organisationsand audiences, including:
- Standards Australia’s members: Build standards knowledge and engagement across your organisation or network.
- Nominating organisations: Engage future contributors to better understand the standards development system, the opportunities available to participate, and the benefits it brings to them.
- Standards users: Upskill employees who regularly work with, reference or implement standards but may have limited exposure to how those standards are actually developed.
- Industry and professional bodies: Introduce members to the standards ecosystem and demonstrate how their sector can influence standards development.
- Government, universities, RTOs, and other organisations: Build standards literacy and explore how standards intersect with your organisation’s priorities, responsibilities and areas of expertise.
Flexible, practical and engaging
BOOTcamp is designed to be interactive rather than lecture based.
Sessions are typically delivered over 2.5 to 3 hours and can accommodate different audience sizes, from smaller teams through to larger organisational groups.
While we recommend in person delivery wherever possible to maximise discussion and interaction, BOOTcamp can also be delivered online. Our team can travel across Sydney and interstate to deliver BOOTcamp at your organisation, or host your session at Standards Australia’s workshop facilities in Sydney’s CBD.
Whatever the format, the objective remains the same: give your people the context they need to understand the standards system, why it matters to their work and how they can engage with it.
