What does the Graduate Program look like?

Our Graduate Program is a structured 12-month development experience designed to help graduates build capability, confidence and professional networks.

You will be designated to a core department based on the role you applied for. Throughout the year, you will rotate across our key business functions, gaining valuable experience along the way. At the end of the 12-month rotation, you will return to your core department in a permanent role.

During the program, you will gain:

Business Functions offering Graduate opportunities

Within the Development & Growth department, you will be directly involved in initiatives that expand the reach and impact of Australian and International Standards, create new market opportunities, help neighbours in ASEAN and the Pacific develop and work within a standards context, and deliver sustainable revenue streams that support our public good mission. The roles sit within our Commercial team and our Strategic Initiatives and International Delivery team.
Within this department, you will gain exposure to our Engagement function, Standards Development team, and International Relations team. You will support standards development projects, manage key relationships with government and industry stakeholders, support international activities and relationships, and contribute to our role in global and regional standards forums.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for the Standards Australia Graduate Program, you must:

    • Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
    • Be completing or have recently completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the last 3 years
    • Be available to commence employment on 1 February 2027
    • Be based in or willing to relocate to Sydney, NSW

    Please note: We are unable to provide sponsorship for student visas, graduate visas or any other work visas for this program. We are also unable to assist with relocation costs.

    Your journey starts here

    Step 1: Submit your application

    Based on your experience, qualifications and career goals, apply for our Development and Growth team, or our Engagement, Standards and International Relations department.

    Complete the online application form and submit your resume and cover letter.

    Step 2: Phone Screening

    If shortlisted, we will have a brief phone call with you. 

    We will discuss your background, motivations for applying and answer any questions you may have about the program. 

    Step 3: In-person Assessment

    Our Assessment Centre is designed to help us get to know you beyond your application. You will participate in a range of activities that may include group exercises, problem-solving tasks and opportunities to demonstrate your communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills.

    Step 4: Panel Interview

    Successful candidates will be invited to a panel interview with the Hiring Managers.

    This is your chance to share more about your experiences, strengths 
    and career aspirations, while learning more about the role and the teams. 

    Step 5: Offer

    When you are successful, we will first call you with a verbal offer, followed by a written offer confirming all the details about your pay, benefits, and everything you need to know before you begin.
