On 27 February 2025, the 7th Community of Practice event on International Standards Integration for Critical and Emerging Technologies in Southeast Asia was held, featuring a focused discussion on “Driving the Transition to Renewable Energy through Standards and Emerging Technologies in Southeast Asia.” The event convened leading experts, including Dr. Danita Setyawati, Senior Energy Analyst at Ember Energy (Asia team), and Dr. Ha Minh Hiep, Acting Director General at Vietnam’s National Standards Body (STAMEQ). Panellists explored regional energy trends, policy developments, and the pivotal role of technical standards in supporting the goal of tripling renewable energy capacity. The session also included a presentation by Ms Myra Magabilin from the Bureau of Philippine on their Critical Technology Action Plan, developed as part of this initiative. Drawing on experience from international organisations and regional initiatives, the session emphasised Southeast Asia’s strategic contributions to global climate objectives and underscored the importance of coordinated action in advancing a just energy transition.
